Meet Mimi

Hi! I’d like to share a bit about myself so you can learn how and why I began Mimi Karon Coaching.

I have always loved helping and supporting people. I started out as a teacher and then decided to move my career into the nonprofit world by obtaining a masters degree in nonprofit management. Whether an employee or volunteer, I have been fortunate to spend time working on causes important to me such as animal welfare, social justice and gun violence prevention.

Knowing I would soon be an empty nester amidst the covid shutdown, I found myself ruminating over life after having kids under my roof.

As a mom, creating a healthy home through the food and products I purchased was really important to me. Throughout my kids’ upbringing, I had heard bits and pieces of information regarding toxins in our food, water, furniture, cleaning products, skin products, clothing, pretty much you name it. I very much wanted to be doing the right thing and getting real, honest information. But man, what a very complicated, time consuming, uphill battle it was to just get to the bottom of things! And it still is!

That is why I became a certified health coach. And that education has moved me much more in the direction of knowing the answers rather than being confused and overwhelmed. And if I still have a health related question, because I firmly believe in life-long learning, I have trusted sources where I can find the answers.

Through my education, I also learned how our food system and how industry contributes not only to our own health but also the health of our environment and its impact on global warming. I learned how social justice and animal welfare are impacted pretty much every single time I make a purchase.

I have also learned to balance my ideals with reality. But sometimes that still challenges me. Being entirely free from toxins is impossible. Just like making zero contribution to global warming. But making realistic steps in the right direction can make a big difference. And those small steps add up to improved health (that you can see and feel) and positive change for our planet. And I want to share this knowledge with as many people as I can. This is why I started Mimi Karon Coaching.

And of course, always adding yoga and its teachings into your life is something we can all benefit from. I have been a yoga practitioner since 2006. Acquiring my 200 hour yoga certification was not a stretch (haha) but a natural path to take.

So in my life and in my profession, I yet again have the opportunity to serve people in something I’m passionate about - this time it’s your health journey, in which I’m grateful to be your partner!
